arfur mo Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 The practice of fitting service timers for that reason is illegal, not to mention the tool of the cowboy. If you have one id report it to your local trading standards (i would normally say inspectorate but no approved compnay would do this) if installed by reason of making more revenue i'd agree, but if installed to ensure the alarm has a regular service and can't be used for extended periods otherwise, then i don't think thats illegal but prudent false alarm management i don't use them myself unless i'm unsure of getting payment, then i'll set it for 3 months. i have the software on my phone so i can always un-lock it for 14 days if needed. but tbh on the few times i have enabled the service timer to protect me, the cheque has arrived within days of completion nothing to do with it expiring, but meaning a free return visit "to check the programming sir" and descretly disable it if no VoCom. you just can't trust some customers to be proper and dishonest - very frustrating, but i bet the time i do ignore my better instincts i'll no doubt get done. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
james.wilson Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 i think enforcing servicing of audible only systems that way isnt right. I dont think any system should lock out if it isnt serviced, granted a reminder might be ok (id disagree) but a lock out is wrong. Payment issues is a whole other subject and i dont disagree with you as long as its only for that reason as people shouldnt have something installed and not pay for it securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Guest anguscanplay Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 i think enforcing servicing of audible only systems that way isnt right. even if it`s certified (read "its an insurance requirment....")? the fact its on and locked on isn`t the problem IMO. It`s how the company deal with the aftermath ........
