crazeetaxi Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Hi there, I had a problem with my electricity supply at home this weekend which (I think) unfortunately has resulted in a problem with the keypad. The background to this basically is that I noticed a few sockets on one side of my kitchen weren't working - that's an issue in itself, which is probably linked to a problem at the junction box (which I'll find out as soon as the guy in the flat above me lets me tear up his kitchen floor to look ). Anyway - during the process of elimination I of course checked the main fusebox (no probs) and removed the 15a fuse more than once while checking the supply. The first few times the alarm box outside sounded quietly. I think it's done this before when fuses were removed, so I wasn't concerned. It also stopped as soon as I put the fuse back in. 3 or 4 goes at pulling the fuse however, and the alarm goes off at full volume. At this point the keypad became inoperable and I was left listening to the alarm for the full 15 minutes and apologising profusely to the neighbours. I kept trying the keypad but to no avail. Finally the alarm stopped and the Tamper light came on. I've seen it on before and was able to reset the box. This time I'm unable to as the keypad won't work, so I have no alarm at the moment. I'm also just about to put the flat up for sale and really want the alarm working for that. Do you think this is a genuine keypad error or is the point of the Tamper facility that in some circumstances it will lock the keypad itself to prevent further tampering via the keypad? I do not wish to insult anyone and I have of course studied the T&C's when joining the forum, but a few simple questions are: Is this something I can recover myself via the keypad or internals? (Father is a qualified sparky/engineer working on pcb's etc everyday and so is more than happy to do the work if told what to do) If I can't sort it myself, is it a pretty easy job for an engineer to carry out? What price should I expect to pay for that? Just in case I need to arrange an engineer, I'd like to know I'm not paying double price! Also, if it really really really needs engineer work and any of you are in or near Gateshead and want to quote me I'll be happy to get a quote from you. . David.

I would charge

crazeetaxi Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 for the advice. I'll look into getting an engineer to look at it.
