davegreen Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 What pre- second fix tests should be done on a fire loop? If any
justin Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Fire loop check....... I try and start at the panel end and check the loop as I fit devices.
sparky999 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 What pre- second fix tests should be done on a fire loop? If any Start by linking all the devices through and doing a continuity test. (don`t megga with any devices on LOL) Panel should soak test I usually have that on the wall powered up with no loops connected . Then start adding the loops one at a time. When your happy that the loops are clear add devices Peter Robinson Freelance M:07889038650

Is it essential to record contiunuity/ resistance readinds on the loop?

If any insulation tests earth loop impedance tests voltage drop loop resistance test to see if correct amount of cable has been used. continuity autolearn etc etc test all looop isolators test internal loop isolators open circuit loop in and full load test open circuit loop out and full load test test all loop devices. slightly more than "if any"

Is it essential to record contiunuity/ resistance readinds on the loop? If you want to comply with BS5839 it is essential to record the following readings for all loops: 1. Insulation resistance L-N, L-E, N-E 2. Loop Continuity - L-L, N-N, E-E However this is easier said than done when you attend site to commission and the electrical contractor has already fitted all the devices!!
