james.wilson Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 As you know we at tsi do actually have a reviews section. We would like to see this grow and become a useful resource, ie reviews by engineers for engineers. I understand that a good review takes a bit of time to put together etc and this should be rewarded. To start this off we will be running competitions for each dicipline, starting with intruder, and this will run throughout august. Entries must be in by the end of august. We will later follow on with cctv, fire, access etc in the same way. We will be running regular prizes or something similar for reviews once its off the ground. Many of you spend a fair amount of time here and id like to think we can make it worthwhile for some of you. As you know i like to keep things simple, so the reviews need to be around 1200-1600 words, include a few relevant pics and the relevant technical specs. The review needs to be fair, if the keypad is cramped for space or the terminals are awkward etc then it needs saying. But it cant be an I Hate xyz cos there shi## etc. The whole idea is to have useful reviews for members, things that you find relevant, annoying, great etc so will others. The layouts need to be similar across all the reviews so to achive this i think they all need to be layed out as below. Introduction, Design and construction and packaging (if relevent), Operation programming general use etc, Documentation, conclusion. I think we also need a TSI points system for each part so out 5 you need to rate Appearance Features Value Build quality Security Manuals Support and finally the 2 best things about the product and the 2 worst. The prizes for august will be a 1st, Dimension 48 with Touchscreen keypad 2nd, Honeywell Accenta LCD Gen 4 3rd, Honeywell Optima control panel. To prevent us getting 10 reviews on the same product please list here what you intend to review. If you would like to discuss this topic please dont do it in this thread as any replies not to do with a review nomination will be removed. James PS i have included some ungraded panels as prizes for all the installers still using BS4737 equipment. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
