niallhannon Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Hi, I have zero experience in alarms and my aritech cs250 has started to show a battery power fault. I have read a bit on the web and opened the main control panel to see what kind of battery it is. There is no way I would be able to change the battery myself but could I go out and buy a battery and get an electrician friend I have to replace it? I am worried that changing the battery might cause the alarm system to reset itself and I am not sure I have the original engineers code. Basically I havn't a clue so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Niall
Gopher Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Never actually worked on this alarm system and I'm sure one the guys who has will reply shortly but you shouldn't lose any of the programming in the system as it's stored in Non-Volitile Memory (NVM) so you can power it down, and change the battery, power it back up, close the box and enter your code and it should be all okay. Thanks for the reply Gopher, so when you say power it down I guess you mean turn off the mains?
Gopher Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Thanks for the reply Gopher, so when you say power it down I guess you mean turn off the mains? Yes and the bell outside will sound, this is how it's supposed to operate but since your only powering it down for a minute or so to change the battery it won't annoy the neighbours too much, although you may just want to let them know as they might call the police / council noise department and it could save your / their blushes later. Chorlton Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Bear in mind he said it "shouldn't loose the programming" but their is a small chance it could. Your call. C.
niallhannon Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Bear in mind he said it "shouldn't loose the programming" but their is a small chance it could.Your call. C. What happens if it does loose the programming? Will it still work? I have read about needing an engineers code in this case.
Chorlton Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 What happens if it does loose the programming? Will it still work? I have read about needing an engineers code in this case. It will need re-programmed by someone with the releveant knowledge to do so I'm afraid. It's impossible to give programming information here. TBH a full service and battery change should only be some
niallhannon Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 Just to let everyone know that I bought a replacement battery, removed the old one and put in the new one. The power fault light did not go off straight away and this is normal accroding to aritech themselves. About 10mins later the power fault light disappeared and all is perfect once again. Thanks for all the help.
Chorlton Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Superb! Glad you had no issue over programming. Thanks for taking the time to come back & tell us! C.
