neilh Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Wonder if anyone can help me. I have an Optima 2 system installed. I have just had a new UPVC door fitted and the builder changed the magnetic contacts. When he removed the old ones I got a "tamper" warning which later dissappeared. He said he fitted the new sensor wired exactly the same but it doesn't appear to work. Do I have to do some kind of reset? Thanks
kka Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 what happens when you set the alarm.. Kevin Scott. Owner of KK Alarms...... Installation .. Service .. Repair ...... Thoughout.. Northumberland and North Tyneside ..... Tel:01670 361948 (call diverted after 15 seconds) or 07947444114
neilh Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 The alarm behaves as normal with all other zones. It's just that the door does not set off the alarm when opened and the control panel does not register it in any way.
kka Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 well... either its wired incorrectly or the manectic reed switch is stuck in the closed position, there fore not being affected by the magnet, and remaining a closed circuit all the time assuming it was a new switch installed and not just the old one put back in. neilh Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 Thanks for the advice. It was actually 2 new magnetic switches, one for patio doors and one for kitchen door. The manual says they share the same zone. Both are new magnetic contact switches, replacing old ones on brand new doors. I guess the wiring must be wrong, even though builder said he noted connections and replaced exactly the same. I probably need to get an Engineer out to check it, just what I was trying to avoid. It will be something that takes 5 minutes to fix, but will cost me at least
