Alarm Protection Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Tbh i would get an engineer round to default and reprogramme the system from start to finish. You cannot change the engineers code unless you know the old one or default the panel and i would advise you do neither and get a professional engineer in so you dont get burgled again. !
Guest anguscanplay Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 It is possible that the engineer programmed a user code for himself though and was using that code during the tests that the OP has described. thats what I`m thinking too ....
Alarm Protection Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Ha ha Chris its been a long day lol!! I saw in one post the engineer may have programmed a user cose in???? I maybe wrong. I have seen this sort of situation before as the ex tennents have programmed a user code in to disarm the system when the new tennants have moved in and dont know! Then come in and disarm then help themelves and rearm. Just thinking of what could have happened. We have a few panels for rented properties and when the old tennants have left, the owner informs us and we dial into the panel and set a new user code so nobody can come and go as they please. The new user code is kept by us and the owner untill new tennants arrive and get their own code. !
james.wilson Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 An engineer code wont do that, ie silence an alarm etc. I know the 9651 is a bottom end panel, and i dont use it so dont know it well, but an panel complying with the regs will not do that unless its been programmed incorrectly or in some sort of test mode. If that is indeed how it works then it doenst comply and i cant believe scantronic would do that. I think you need to get this system checked out. And you need a written copy of the log. magpye Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 User 01 ( U01 ) is the Master User Code for this panel. I suggest you turn the system on, let it fully set, count to 20, go back in and turn it off, using your code, not what you believe to be the Eng code. Then, access the Log. that will then show you the Uxx number of your code. If it is not U01 it's not the Master Code Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
Barsnake Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Engineer Code Has A Guard Feature On Scan EN's Which Acts As User Code As Well (Found It By Mistake a Month Ago)(On The 9853 Anyway) Not Sure About 9651 Having A Nosey As You Read EDIT - Guard mode provides the same access as user mode but only if there is, or has been, an alarm. If there has been no alarm, the Guard code will not provide access to the system. There is only one user code of this type. Thought so 9651EN has it
