Guest anguscanplay Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 But i thought we were discussing G3?But re tampering of BT joint, where would you stop? As a tool is required to disconnect the block it isnt tampered, if the line was disconneted at the block, to dp, the pole etc the panel will report a line fault. Same with IP as long as a tool is required then its ok, what you cant do is use a std cat 5 socket and patch lead as no tool is req to disconnect. There is a whole guide on signalling connection location etc coming from the BSIA. Ie no comms in entry routes etc But again this is all only G3, G2 as a low to medium risk can just be plugged in which is why IMO G2 will over the next few years be accepted less and less. but more likely someone is going to have a look inside a BT block than a door contact - thats what brought it to mind here (sorry)
james.wilson Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 agreed, but looking in the block or the dp or the road cabinet etc is fine. If its disconnected a line fail would be detected. While i used to think personally that blocks should be secure etc then you think about the rest of the bt network and tampering the one adj panel is pointless unless your gonna do the lot ie all the way back to exhange. Thats why redcare and its varients/competing versions, is so popular securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Amps Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 they are old Grade 3 ones then, from before the reg change, cqr by any chance? So there is an old and new Grade 3 !!! Yes they are cqr type, are they still acceptable? The rules seem to be changing all the time. Where can i find the rules/document for grade 2/3 systems, i cant seem to find much on the net. The national company i work for have provide this info to all engineers but there seems to be alot more to this. Grade 2 user must allow Engineer access 4 digit codes are allowed 12hr battery back up max entry time 45 secs set indicators max 180 seconds system to be set by, contact set, p.t.s, external reader, chubb lock or ARC Linefault/network fail should indicate on keypad code/fob to display faults Grade 3 user must allow Engineer access 5 digit codes must be used 12hr battery back up max entry time 45 secs set indicators max 180 seconds system to be set by, contact set, p.t.s, external reader, chubb lock or ARC Linefault/network fail should indicate on keypad code/fob to display faults panel to perform load test on all batteries motion sensors to report ant-mask back tampers to be used on motion sensors
james.wilson Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 its a start that but yes there is a lot more to it than that. The only way to be sure is you will need copies of the current std's There are many parts to 50131 and you will need them all but you could start with part 1. The reason for the old and new G3 is there was a dual running period using the old ones, that ran out a while ago. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

james.wilson Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 er. Yes they do gus. And they are issued securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Amps Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 er.Yes they do gus. And they are issued They you go, two posts two different views TBH no one ( and i mean no one) actually knows what the regs say, maybe that will change when they are finally issued Timed set and permanent engineer access? also on the subject of grade 3 contacts what a pain in the butt they are. getting the distance of the gap right, getting the magnet the right way up, making sure the tamper is closed, man old contacts 2mins, grade 3 15-20 mins
Guest anguscanplay Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 They you go, two posts two different views told you didnt I............ James only sees what James wants to see Timed set and permanent engineer access? yeah - you can have a G2X - that doesnt need to be user action setting the regs allow for the user to autherise the engineer once for life also on the subject of grade 3 contacts what a pain in the butt they are. getting the distance of the gap right, getting the magnet the right way up, making sure the tamper is closed, man old contacts 2mins, grade 3 15-20 mins try the knight plastic ones - best out of the bunch IMO
Guest anguscanplay Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 what the hell is a G2X ? Grade 2notification option"X" = non signalling
