DamienGiles Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Wired in a ACE keypad and connected the power - the keypads display was all bitty - i.e. some LCD blots were missing so the text was unreadable. Wired up the second keypad - exactly the same way - and there was no text on the keypads at all. But there was power and the PIN code & speaker were working (so was the tamper... heh). Are these both faulty keypads or am I missing something? Thanks
james.wilson Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Have you connected the eol resistor. Also try wiring on a temp piece of cable straight onto the panel. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
DamienGiles Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 As it's a 6wire keypad and I'm using ident then there's no need for a resistor (or so the manual states). I've removed them all, stripped a new wire from the drum and reconnected each one separatly after defaulting the panel. Again, same problem - LCD is bitty and other one has no display. I guess it's time to chuck these and order some G-Tag's.
wilks121 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 What panel are you connecting the keypads to. Are the keypads compatable. If so disconnect all wiring to control unit and ONLY connect keypad. There is a pot on the keypad for display contrast.?
arfur mo Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 i'd add you need to connect the keypads with power off (or down power and restore) to properly 'sync' the panel to the keypads, the pot is the most likely reason if the display is not good, they seem to set them 'dark' at the factory i assume because they test on a work bench not on the wall (so the in use viewing angle is different). regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
