southy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Hi, My Optima XM6 has finally died after many years of service (burnt out components on the pcb). I'm looking to replace the panel (and bell box) and reuse the existing PIRs/contacts/wiring. I've been looking at the Texecom R8 and R8+. The R8+ seems very versatile but does that compromise reliability. I'd welcome any comments on the above and any suggestions for alternative panels. Thanks in advance, Mark
breff Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Nothing wrong with the R8+, better than an Optima anyday The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
kka Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 even thought i favour gardtec....nothing wronge with veritas r8..i have thirty odd in place and have had next to no problems with them, can i ask what you are basing your choice on? southy Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 The only basis for choosing Texecom was a mate bought one therefore I am quite open to other suggestions of other manufacturers. I wanted a remote keypad so the R8 gave me that but the R8+ seems to offer much more for a smallish increase in cost (though not really sure i need the extra features though). Mark

Mark I haven't used an R8 or R8+ for a while but I used to use loads of them. As I remeber the R8+ had more programming otions and outputs for remote signalling which you might want to use at a later date. There is very little difference in cost and I can honestly say they have been as reliable as any panel I have fitted
