kensplace
Im going to be replacing my existing alarm panel (accenta mercury) with a galaxy 16+ (hopefully a big improvement?) mainly because the battery charging circuit on the accenta is shot, any battery put in starts 'bubbling' like crazy shortly after being connected. The batteries all charge fine in the galaxy, and in some 12v psu boxes I use also. Its also getting bad corrosion on the battery leads, so I run it without a battery - leading to the bells going off in a powercut. So far I have managed to get the alarm wired up on the bench (just using eol resistors on all zones) with one keypad, and one (sab) internal sounder. Reprogrammed the banner text, and the sounder sets off if tampered and in the test menu, all seems good so far. I will test with a couple of spare pirs later when I get some time, and get familiar with its various options before I swap the panel over. I would like to wire up the dialler it has built in so it dials out when the alarm goes off (to phone a mobile), I can program the numbers etc, but Im a little confused as to the wiring. The manual I have shows how to wire up the connections on the board to the bt socket, but it does not show the 'phone socket' that is on the board, maybe I have a old manual or something? As it would be sharing the (only) phone line with the broadband, does the 16+ have a microfilter for adsl built in, or do I need to add one? If I need to add one then is the phone socket that is on the board just for a test phone? Or can it be used as the main input, ie instead of wiring to the connector on the board? Can I use a microfilter plugged into that socket for the line, or do I have to sort out a microfilter into the wired connection? If I have to hardwire a microfilter, I guess the cheapest option would be to take a spare one I have and wire that in (chop cables were required etc) unless you can get something prebuilt for this at a reasonable price? james.wilson
you sure its a 16+ and not a 16? the tel line connections are clearly marked on a 16+ securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. antinode
The built in digi on the 16+ is'nt designed to telephone or text another phone (it won't work), it's used to communicate to an ARC reciever using DTMF tones. You will probably require a dedicated speech/text dialer. Trade Member
kensplace
for the replies, Its a 16+ acccording to the sticker on the pcb, the connections are marked, just not sure if the phone socket (which is not mentioned in the manual I have) is the same connection as the other ones, ie can it be used in place of the wired ones, and if a microfilter is on board or not. I have recently read another galaxy manual, and it looks like the onboard phone socket is the same connections as the wired ones so the line can be connected by either, I guess a quick look at the pcb tracks should confirm this before I connect up. I was hoping I would be able to use the home numbers in the panel, and set it to tone notification (ie on/off beeps to signify the type of alarm, which is setable in the setup). If for some reason the panel wont do that, then getting a speech dialer sounds like a good move May even try seeing what I can get of the 485 bus, see if I can interface to a pc later on. james.wilson
Yes the tones will do the job, but there is no microfilter built in to the panel securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
