Beia Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Hi, Please help me!! We have an Optima 2 plus alarm installed at our new house. We are having some work done and the guys turned off the electric power. Once they turn it on again, the alarm went on and even with the code it wouldn't go off. I have the fuse for the alarm off now, b/c otherwise it won't stop the noise. What should I do? thank you very much! Beia
Chorlton Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Option 1) With the electricity off it is now running on battery power and if a fairly modern system installed correctly the external bell should stop after 20mins. Option 2) If it's not fairly modern or was not fitted correctly it will sound until the internal battery runs out which could be several hours. Option 3) Get the yellow pages out and phone for a local engineer to come out and fix it. IMO option 3 is really your only option because with option 1 or 2 the alarm is not left in working order merely disconnected with the batteries flat. The system should be serviced annually with batteries change regularily 2-5 years and annual servicing with a reputable company normally provides 24/7 365 call out support for instances exactly as you have at the moment. C.

Beia Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Thank you very much for your help, I think it is a new sytem as the alarm has stopped but obviously we need to call an engineer out, but how can we be sure we are dealing with a reputable company that we find in Yellow Pages? Is there no recognised engineers you could recommend, we live in London E8? kind regards Beia
