tonywye
Hi, Im planning to install an ADE Accenta 8 in my new house (feel free to tell me if this is a good or bad unit ?). I have 8 PIR's and will obviously need to wire them into the central unit. Does anybody know if there are enough terminal blocks inside the central unit to wire them up. The 8 PIR tamper ciruits will need to be in series so I will need some spare connection blocks inside the unit to wire this up (something like 7 blocks I guess), same is true for the + and - for each PIR (in parallel of course but can I get 8 wires into one little terminal block ?). Whats the usual way to wire this up, to have some terminal blocks sitting inside the central unit somehow ? Im going for the Big Accenta metal casing unit which hopefully has some space for this sort of thing. Thanks, Tony
Gopher
It is tricky sometimes to get 8 wires into one bit of block but it can be done if very careful. If you don't think you can do this the other way is to put 4 blocks in and split up the wiring so it's 4 wires wires in each, 2 sets for +12v and 2 for 0v then you can wire these 2 sets back to the control panel but obviously check all the connections are tight. The way your wiring the tamper connection sounds right but you'd need 9 blocks for all 8 zones since your need to wire from the block back to the panel as this is slightly easier to do... Hope that helps. Intruder / CCTV / Access Control Technical Support Personal Subscriber to the "K.I.S.S" principle, that's Keep It Simple Stupid, are you? Good basic DIY panel. The terminal blocks are on the circuit board provided and there are 8 zones available. You will need extra connector block for the tamper wires and a double bit of block for your + and-. Keep the wiring neat in the panel and i normally leave the Tamper and power pair longer sitting in the bottom of the panel tucked away or tie wrapped depending on what panel is being installed. As said there will be plenty of room for wiring in the panel but plan ahead. !
hpotter
The "big metal casing" is the G4, and has plenty of room for additional terminal blocks etc. There are 16 zone connections on the PCB, 2 for each circuit. The global tamper (2 more pcb connections) as you have worked out requires all the detector tampers to be series up, and each join needs a bit of terminal block. The power connectors can be twisted together in a bit of terminal block (all the +ve in one, all the -ve in another!!) and a short lead to the supply connectors on the PCB. I would (bearing in mind metal casing) ensure the mains spur is checked out by a sparkie.
tonywye
Thanks for the replies, makes sense. One other thing. I just noticed the cabling is 2 pair. So one pair is power. For the other pair obviously I need to wire it to the PIR Sensor N/C connection on each PIR but can I also wire it (in series) to the Tamper N/C connection in the PIR unit ? That way I can still use the tamper facility built into the PIR unit. Thanks Tony

Thanks Tony no you`ll need to fit the resisters that come with the panel
tonywye
No resistors have come with the panel. Basically is it Ok to wire as follows: Alarm Zone 1 terminal A ------------------PIR Sensor----PIR Tamper------------------Alarm Zone 1 terminal B I dont think there should be an issue as the PIR tamper is just a N/C microswitch ? james.wilson
the accenta is a double pole panel so you will need a pair for the zone and a pair for tamper. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
