steveo14 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hello I have a MDT(Westech) Avanti XP alarm panel - normal sort of thing - 8 zones, remote keypad and connections to bell box. I wanted to extend the system to cover some other parts of the house and got a keystone wireless receiver and a wireless door contact to go with it. To quote the web site "for connection to any existing wired alarm system creating a hybrid wired / wirefree security system". I thought all I would need to do is to wire the receiver into one of the zones on the panel and then if the door contact is opened it sends a signal to the receiver and the alarm goes off. However it turns out the receiver uses a negative trigger (although you can change this to positive) which is just one wire. So how do I connect it to one of the zones (the normally closed circuit) that is used by the alarm panel which uses a two wire connection? Sorry if this has come up before but I did a search and did not find anything. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
hpotter Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 You will need a relay. Put neg output of receiver on one side of relay coil, take +ve (from aux supply) and put on other side of coil. Connect normally closed relay contacts to alarm zone. I would suggest a diode across coil to prevent back emf. Im sure maplins could sort.
steveo14 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Thank you for your advice. Hopefully I will be able to wire it in now.
