Richard1949 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Hello. I'm new to the forum and I'd appreciate some guidance. My wired alarm control box has had a new battery (Maplin) fitted. When the mains is switched off, the battery takes over - with no alarm to indicate the battery is low.. However, I thought I had a problem with the way I wired up the 24-hour tamper free circuit...so I took out the wires to all IR/breakers in the control box's elongated connection strip and put in the 'U' clip to keep the circuit. However the 24-hour alarm goes off, indicating a '24 Hour circuit break', at the most erratic times (during an afternoon..or maybe when we are out) - what could be the cause of this very erratic fault?..as I would not like it disturbing my neighbours. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.
Richard1949 Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 which control panel is it? Thank you..it's an A1 Omnicron 7000
lawandorder Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 which control panel is it? Could be bell tamper or panel tamper as, from memory, (which is rapidly detiorating) they are not indicated separately on this panel.

Thank you for your reply. What's puzzling me is the that the white and green wires aren't connected at all in the connection block.....as I've inserted a metal 'U' clip instead - to keep the circuit. The problem is so erratic....and the control panel alarm sounds even when I haven't armed the system as if we were going out. It has been fine for several days..but over this weekend, the alarm in the control panel sounds...and tonight, the strobe was flashing on our return from a family visit.

Richard1949 Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 OK - thank you for your replies...I'll have a look tomorrow at the two you mention. I'll advise again, if I may. Goodnight to you.
james.wilson Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 it may also be the board but as above likly to be one of the other circuits securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

By insering a "U" clip you have effectively removed the global tamper from the system but it doesn't eliminate the panel tamper (which is a small sping loaded switch which activates when you remove the panel cover) and it doesn't eliminate the bell tamper which is a switch that protects the external sounder. A 24hr circuit will activate the system whether it is armed or not so that is fairly normal as is the intermittent nature of the problem. In my experience it is more likely to be the bell tamper than the panel tamper because external sounders are relatively exposed to the elements.
james.wilson Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 but if we knew whay the panel was we would know if it has additional tamper circuits or not. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
