james.wilson Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 it was not common place to connect PA tampers to a switch, as removing the lid causes an alarm. This is differnet for G3 (not galaxy G3, EN G3) as a tamper must now be reported and its not compliant to send a pa on opening anymore. It was usual in DP or EOL systems to tamper the cable only. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
black knight Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I would suggest you look in the log - it will tell you exactly what happened and what you did. to access the log put your code in , press ent and then either go to view log in the 1 - 9 options by pressing A and then ent or if you are faced with 10 = setting initially press 22 ( i think) to go to log then ent. press B to go backward and A to go forward. However given your obvious lack of familarity with the panel i would suggest you contact Sunwin and get their service engineer to give you a comprehensive training course and to double check all is working OK. james.wilson Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 and for that reason thats why on G3 you are no longer allowed to cause a pa on opening one. Only a tamper. But unfortunatly i think using a non g3 PA button and relying on them to only open it a little is unlikly to work, the tend to hold it on the wall, remove both screws and then pull it. SOmetimes they lever it off the wall but as a rule decorators tend to like to open up as much as possible, then get as much paste, paint, or water in the device as possible. I assume its a challenge. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
philipsimpson Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 Hi I had to use the pa for real last night, turns out it is silent and no body rings police just came very fast. Once i'd reset it with the key later on i checked the keypad to make sure it set ok and it did, and while i was there i checked the log and it was indeed a tamper that i set off last week. Thanks for all your help Philip
