A-G Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I was told today that 2p coins had greater scrap value than face value.... same as 1p apparently.....and sack loads were being taken down the scrap yard hence government is minting lots of new coins less weighty and less copper content....allegedly........ All recent 'bronze' coins are made mainly of ferrous metal. The originals, from 1970 to sometime in the 80's cannot be picked up with a magnet .... but the newer ones can. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.
