Veritas Alarm Problem

Hi new here and after some help.

We moved into a new house in 2004 and have a veritas alarm system and panels.

System has worked fine but now won't let us set.

The 'unset' green light is just flasing repeatedly and we can not set the system.

I have downloaded the Veritas 8 user manual (we don't have one for our and not sure which version it is but this has all the same programing formulas it seems) and tried to reset as if it was due to power cut. It goes through coding correctly with correct light sequences etc and even to the set bit but then when we put code in returns to flashing green unset again.

Can anyone help????

BEFORE doing anything be 100% sure you know basic electrical safety , know what I'm refering to, know how to check & have a suitable tool/meter!

check the fuse at the supply board

check the mains fuse in the panel

check the fuse on the circuit board

check the 12v battery is good (if it is but is more than 4 years old change it anyway)

report back on the double, lol

Ok thanks all - will do some checks and report back otherwise any suggestions for reputable repairers to look at it in Nottingham area?

update:

ok switched power off at main alarm box, changed fuse.

switched back on and green power light on but not flashing. chimes start, put in code, green power light flashing again :(

further update:

All the clear fuses inside the circuit board box look ok, no broken wires.

If battery has gone would that effect useage under normal power though?

cheers Chorlton - think checking that fuse and visual inspections is about my limit! Probably need to get someone with suitable meter and electrical knowledge to sort....I've no doubt its a power issue now though.

no worries if you don't want to open the panel and poke around.

better to leave it if your unsure rather than zap yourself or something inside the panel.

hope you get it sorted via someone listed in your area.

cheers.

Disconnect the battery.

Flat battery or mains fail causes the unset light to constantly flash

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
