jasper1604 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Hi, the Ademco Microtech Accord system which has been in the house from new (7 yrs) suddenly lost mains power last night - went onto battery. Have checked fuses etc etc cannot restore power. Is this likely to be the power transformer or the board?? Either way can you still get direct replacement parts? I'm not a spark but I reckon I could swap everything over to a new panel/ transformer if required. Thanks.
james.wilson Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 im afraid the accord is long obsolete. I assume power is coming into the transformer? If so is ac going into the board. If yes its a board/fuse issue, if not its the tx. James securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

Thanks. hi jasper, please be careful inside the panel with your fingers, mains voltage can be a laugh to watch the victim or it can be fatal (not so funny). as James above says, to add you should get about 18 - 20 vac out of the transformer, i don't know the panel but if it is easy enough to disconnect the transformer from the pcb then do so. carfully measure its output having made sure you actually and again very carefully you have mains going into it, could be a bad connection on the mains block. if no output the final tests are with the power completely disconnected, with your meter on low range ohms check to see if you can read anything throught he primary (mains side) and also the secondary (low volts side) coils. if either show as open circuit (no reading) then it is dead. if it shows a reading on both sides measure between each side i.e. mains side to low voltage side on high ohms range. any reading will = a duff transformer. it is possible to use another transformer sourced from maplins/RS compnents but at this stage a new panel would make far more sense. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
jasper1604 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 Thanks James / Alan - I've a feeling a new panel is on the cards. Great site, it always amazes me the range and depth of knowledge you can tap in to via the internet. Thanks again. BW
