As an addendum to this discussion my grandfather has at ATI 8000 series alarm which suddenly stopped recognising the code. When plugged in with the DC supply, the display reads CE but does not do anything upon code entry (for accessing settings for a walk test etc). It just keeps reading CE. The battery being pretty much flat, this was all tried when the DC jack was plugged in and of course the unit would start showing CH when i took it out before dying a few minutes later. I tried pressing "FULL" to initiate an alarm countdown etc and it started counting down (after which i disconnected the power) so I suppose that works (of course without the code i would have no way of shutting it off hence disconnecting the DC PSU).

I have read (pertaining to the 6000) that it has a battery in the bell box. Would this be the case here and if so does this sound like the cause of the problems? The sensors pick up fine, but when I was trying this only two out of three had working batteries (all I could muster at that time after replacing the dead ones). When I took out and replaced the battery in one of them the control panel did not seem to notice this.

There is possibly a defective capacitor on the antenna circuit inside the main panel as it is visually cracked and split open. I did not think that this could cause the apparent symptoms, but perhaps I am wrong.

I recall pressing the green "tick" button i think it was (or the red cross one it's been a while) and getting a 4 digit code which seemed to change each time. Is this a "seed" code for alarm resetting? Can I use this for anything?

In summary - it appears normal but does not recognise the user code any more. Is there anything I can try and if so what?

I would be most grateful for any suggestions you may have or your views if it sounds terminal.

Best Wishes,

Andy

Is your grandfather still under contract to Pone or //.National Installer.// ?, if so you must now contact //.National Installer.// for parts ETC.as //.National Installer.// are sole distributers of parts and are the owners of Encone software program needed to issue you the reset code. If the system was monitored and is now to be standalone the system will need a standalone Chip installed again from //.National Installer.//. The slim Battery in the Control Panel is not readily available from general alarm suppliers as this is an unusual size again //.National Installer.// or battery manufacturer. //.National Installer.// are your only choice for any parts needed.

Bellman may be able to help on parts still available and as to whether the systems are still in use.

Good hunting

Hello,

Unfortunately the chips are no longer available as are no other spares (apart from a limited few that the engineers may have as car stock) however the batteries are yuasa and can be sourced.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Thanks for the response. It's a shame that everything - siren, control panel, battery and PIR's just become useless and not useable because of this when it's most likely someone somewhere would have parts to get it working just lying around!. I was hoping to resurrect the system to work "standalone" and get some use out of it. It was originally monitored by A.T.I. as far as I know.

Many thanks for your time Guys,

Andy
