How are you testing it? Remember the alarm has to be fully set (ie, exit sounder stops) before it will activate also rememebr the 9448 has 2 ply entry so if you are triggering it via the final exit door you must wait for the external to come on which will be some time after the internal has activated.

If the external sounder works when doing a bell test we know that the sounder is ok and the sounder wiring is ok this leaves two real possibilities. 1: The system is programmed with a bell delay (can't remember if that is actually possible with a 9448) 2: The panel is faulty. It might be worth trying it by simulating a persoanl attack alarm, if there is no PA fitted just open the panel, defeat the tamper, reset the panel then remove the PA link. There was a similar post made quite recently by somebody who was having the same problem with a 9448, his panel was faulty. I have fitted a fair few 9448s in my time and never come across it personally but it does seem that this is likely to be the cause in your case.

lawandorder Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 mate for the reply. No problem but just one more thing you could try, remove the bell s- from the panel and apply it to the negative hold off. This should cause the outside sounder to ring, let it ring for a few minutes. It is possible that the sounder timer has developed a fault and only allowing the sounder to ring for a few seconds, long enough for you to think it's ok when you do a bell test but not long enough for you to hear it once you have escaped the sound of the internal!
