simonabh Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Dear all thanks for all the help and advice the forum gave on my last problem I have a property with a C&K 700L system and I have the installer manual and understand most of it! My tenant has just moved out and on looking at the system I have 1. A keypad which beeps when you press the buttons 2. It fails to sound any confirmation tones, irrespective of user or maint code 3. I opened the box and no bell sounds 4. I have 240vs in and 14v at the battery and the external and internal fuses are fine 5. The Bell box outside has no lights on at all, the other flats boxes have lights which appear to alternate from white to red, I assume they are normal? 6. Outside the flat above the door is a small light switch size box which has a red led illuminated, the other flats do not have these illuminated. I cant see anything in the manual describing the operation of this led or the bell box lights, can anyone help here? I intend to go for a reset to defaults? Will this do the job perhaps? Simon
Chorlton Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 what last problem, this is your 1st post ? no matter stay tuned as others with more knowledge than me will be along soon enough to offer assistance. C.
james.wilson Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 HI Simon 1. OK 2. Sounds like the codes are wrong ot you have some un reset event. What is displayed on the keypad? 3. It should (internally) unless (stating the obvious here) it has a problem 4. 14v is a bit to high 5. Assuming its a std bell then it should. This could well be your problem 6. Have no idea what that is... aphoto perhaps? Cant help you on the public side defaulting a panel for obvious reasons. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
simonabh Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Hi thanks for the quick reply First answer I found the answer to my previous problem, where to get instructions from a previous question on the forum, you installers are a suspicous bunch? ha Whoops sorry on asking ref using the reset, sorry no picture it is just a red led 3mm across in the middle of a small white box, I assume its to let the owner know the alarm has been triggered before entering? If you come into the flats by a door not next to the bell you would not see the flashing stobe? These icons are gr8 Simon
ViperMK2 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Do you get anything if you enter user code * 9 It should cycle through the sounders and strobe As the days go by, we face the increasing inevitability that we are alone in a godless, uninhabited, hostile and meaningless universe. Still, you've got to laugh, haven't you?
simonabh Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Hi No not tried that will try this tomorrow and update then Simon
simonabh Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Hi I have been to the property and tried the tips I have moved forwards with this system, first on opening the box its a 800l not a 700l, I now have the inst manual for this and it is slightly different. I have defaulted the system and the keypad has come to life, in that it give tones after progs and I have changed the user code ok also the led above the door is not lit. And the bell works on the test and rest whch it didnt when I first tried 9-9. Now I cant get rid of the flashing TPR light on the keypad, so I assume one of the tamper devices is still open? Also the day light is lit all the time? One thing does suprise me, when ever I open the box there are no alarms, on my other property if you so much as look at the box it goes off! Any ideas please You may have guessed by now Im not in the trade, Im an engine specialist in the RAF so suck squeeze bang blow works for me Simon

As the system is already in tamper opening the panel will not cause further tampers. Worth checking that the tamper switches on the keypad (but flaky on these keypads sometimes) are working ok and check the panel tamper switch is closing properly. Have you got a meter/know how to measure resistance? If so check contnuity of the tamper circuit. Isolate mains first though!
Chorlton Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 so if you get things wrong it does this - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5F-I08xLWqM&...feature=related Cool, or hot as the case maybe, lol not sus mate just confused. not hard to do to me TBH. many pics required for assistance though
simonabh Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Sounds like good advice, I didnt realise the keypad also had a tamper device, I will check, clean contacts and also check between the 2 contacts for the 24hr tamper on the circuit board, do I expect high or low resistance? And for the chap from North of Watford, thanks for the link to thr engine stuff, yes standing next to a fast jet engine in reheat is just slightly more concerning than disturbing the neighbours with my alarm bell test today, hurray for Sir Frank Whittle of Great Britain patented a design for a jet aircraft engine in 1930.He first proposed using the gas turbine engine for propulsion in 1928 while a student at the Royal Air Force College in Cramwell, England. In 1941 an engine designed by Whittle was the first successful turbojet airplane flown in Great Britain And yes I will try and keep to the subject Simon
