mdinch Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi, I'm currently looking to buy property in turkey and will want to have a security system installed. I've contacted several security firms. Most of these firms are recommending Paradox 1738, 738ULT or 728ULT. The prices they are quoting me for these units are quite off putting to say the least. However considering the fact that they have to import the units from Canada + put up with extortionate import taxes, they can only pass on these costs to the customers + profit margin. One company wants to charge me $205 USD + local tax for the 1738 panel! I would be grateful for any feedback regarding the following:- Would anyone know where I might be able to get hold of one of these units in the UK? Does any one have any experience with these units? Are the any good? One other brand I have been recommended is DSC. Are they any good and could I buy the units here in the UK? Your suggestions will be most appreciated.
Chorlton Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 1st thought that comes to mind is why? local installer will have to fit it and support it. what happens if something goes wrong and they can't/won't fix it? Get equipment installed that they are familiar with & can support IMO.

If it goes wrong with in the warranty/guarantee period I take it back to the supplier. If it goes wrong outside the warranty period then get a new one. Surely it's going to cheaper then calling out an engineer to repair the main board... Paradox and DSC are brand names they are familiar with and can support..
