Alarm Co Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 have got an axis 207 ip camera to have play with at home but having trouble setting up on a netgear router through mac op any help please all distructions seem to be for bloody windows?
james.wilson Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 you will need to tell it to use basic mpeg, and have quicktime installed on the mac alternativly if you go into the htlm examples page it will give you a url, but as i only use windows mate i dunno how you will get on. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Gopher Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Does it also do a java applet type thing I'm sure it does offer that option. I do suppose it all depends on where your getting stuck at.. Is it actually get the camera to have an fixed IP or the like as if I remember the all the Axis Tools are written for Windows, not mac.. I know you can set it all up via browser but I'd try and use Firefox rather than Safari, it may detect the browser type and well go Foxtrot Oscar at Safari.. Intruder / CCTV / Access Control Technical Support Personal Subscriber to the "K.I.S.S" principle, that's Keep It Simple Stupid, are you?
james.wilson Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 firefox supports mjpeg nativly so you could stream that from it without any applets but you will need to use the url directly, ie http://<insert IP here>/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=50&color=1&clock=0&date=0&text=0 if you have user auth turned on then add <user>:<password>@<insert IP here>/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=50&color=1&clock=0&date=0&text=0 above will work on firefox fine. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Joe Harris Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 As an aside Redbull - Have you seen the quantity of publicly listed IP Cameras on google and such. Try the following search: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&s...art=30&sa=N and look at how many are listed - the same is true of many other manufacturers systems and their default urls and just emphasises the importance of discretion in posting of such URLs for spiders to pick up on and on changing defaults. james.wilson Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 There is no IP in the above example but if people dont secure a camera, dvr, ip enabled alarm then.... well you know the rest securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Joe Harris Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 When I said discretion I meant the camera owners - not your post I can see that you anonymised it suitably. I can't help thinking that it will be a long time after IP related products become more prolific before people start to properly learn to secure their devices / networks etc. 'J
