Guest altruistic1964 Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Does anyone out there know what to do to reset a Paragon Plus Alarm. I managed to accidentally cut through the alarm wire. I have now managed to connect the wires together but I need to clear the panel of the tamper error cos whenever I try and part set or full set the alarm sounds. Thanks David
Guest dale Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 If you have entered your code to reset the alarm and you are getting tamper errors, this means that you have a tamper error! Chances are that when you cut through the alarm wire, you will have shorted the +/- 12v aux power. So you will probably find that the sensors dont work! Do you what device the cable you cut through was feeding? You will need to turn off the mains, take off the cover (the alarm should go off.... just enter your code to silence), then check the little glass fuses, you will find one of them will have gone, you will need to replace it with the exact same type of fuse, it will tell you the type of fuse on the end cap (its imprinted into it). If might be easier to simply call the alarm company out, as they will have all the spares and will be able to get it back up and running and test it for you in no time! Dale
Guest oldtimer Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Just to add to Dale comments. these panels come with spare fuses in a small plastic bag. If you are lucky the installer placed them in the control panel. If I remember correctly there are 2 glass 20mm fuses fitted on the PCB top left The one on the left is the Bell/sounder fuse the one on the right is the Auxillary fuse me thinks this is the one that is blown. To check this before you remove the panel cover (remember to switch off the mains supply when doing this) check any movement sensors to see if a red light comes on when you walk past it (them) if this does happens then its not a fuse fault go back to your cut/jointed cable
