aleksandras1234 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hello, There is large building - sport arena, where according standards it's required to design voice evacuation system. I've visited some similar premises and I noticed that there are lot's of fire alarm indoor sirens (with beacon) - in halls, corridors, etc. 1. So, if in large public building there is voice evacuation system is it required install fire alarm sounders too? (not only according standards but due to your practice too) 2. What working algorithm (typically) used for activation both sound and voice systems? Thank you.
esp-protocol Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 If you are using a Voice Alarm System correctly designed to appropriate standards eg. 5839 pt 8 then there is no need to have fire alarm sounders as well. The beacons may be installed as a staff alarm in such a large building to activate prior to the evacuation message being put out.

(not only according standards but due to your practice too) Most PA fire systems I have worked on use the speakers as a fire alarm sounder between evacuation voice messages, to add extra sounders would be unnecessary. 2. In a large manned building normally a warning sounder for staff to hear on a delay before the system goes to voice evac. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life is like a box of chocolates, some bugger always gets the nice ones!
