Accenta 8 Mini Problem

Hi

This is my first time on the forum, and I'd be grateful if anyone could advise on what might be happening with my alarm.

As in my title, it's an Accenta 8 mini. I moved into the house a few months back, with no alarm problems until a few days ago.

I got home one evening to find the alarm did not need to be unset and I couldn't set it again without a broken beep on all the programmes and warning lights suggesting the usual zones were not working. While I was trying to figure out what was happening, the alarm went off. At exactly the same time, all the lights in the street failed, due to an electricty main being cut by gas workers in the next street. So, I'm guessing the power failure triggered the alarm. Other alarms nearby were also going off.

Next morning, a neighbour told me there had been a previous power failure that evening. Could a subsequent power surge have been responsible for disabling the alarm?

I'm guessing I'll need an engineer to deal with this. Much appreciated if anyone can suggest a suitable one in the Glasgow area.

cheers

Hi James

Your alarm "should" have a 12v back up battery for this very reason and also to stop simple removing of powers disabling the entire system.

If you want DIY advice in relation to servicing the system see here - http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/Cont...service_pt1.asp

If you want a local engineer se here - http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...p?showforum=248

I'm sure other members will be along soon enough with lots of suggestions, you can search the forum (top right corner) and feel free to ask more if required.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I think the DIY option is beyond me at this stage. I've no experience of this stuff and never enough time to learn. I'll check out the engineer options you posted over the next few days

cheers

James
