Texacom Veritas

Hi,

I install Texecom Veritas control panels but have recently become frustrated with a panel (Veritas 8C) as the damn thing keeps beeping as if someone is pressing the keypad. I have checked the keypad connections, and made sure its seated right in the control panel. It appears to work fine at power up and testing but then at strange intervals it just starts beeping and locks out the user, the only way to stop it is power down reset.

Ive talked to some other installers and they havent come accross this fault before, think could be faulty card.

If anyone has any suggestions to save me replacing the control card I would be grateful.

Do you have a mains filter on it?

This is going to sound strange but failing that, maybe a larger Ah battery.

I have a little experience with this model but those are the two things I would try 1st :)

Hi ,

I've installed many Veritas with no problems , BUT the Veritas Compact is short of wiring space , and sometimes this can affect the push-buttons when the cover is on.Make sure the keys are free and not stiff in any way (especially the corner ones).

Best of luck.

It can't be the battery as I allways use the same type of Texecom recommended battery, and never had a problem before.

I dont tend to use filters in domestic instalations as the Texecom gear is pretty good and isnt usualy effected with electrical noise, the house next door has the exact same alarm installed in the exact same way and that doesnt have a problem.

It could be the wires behind the keypad, I will have another look when I get chance.

Thanks for your comments

I used to work for the Texecom as the tech support engineer - what I would do there would be tap the board checking for dry joints - even though it is a double sided door it can still have a dry joint - could be round the 7805 (top of the board) this supplied power to the processor or it cold be on the large processor below the keypad standoff

If that doesnt work then let me know.

I eventually just replaced the control panel and sent the nick nacked one back to the wholesaler for a replacement. So i assume it would have wound up back at Texecom to be repaired. But I would deffinately recommend Texecom gear for domestic (and some commercial) systems.
