donal Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 hi im just wondering what qualifications you nead to install alarms. from what iv read you start as a electricion and then specialise in alarms. is this the only way to qualify ?. or can you go from installing networks wired to alarms? the reson im asking is that i live in a small city in the west of ireland. i dont see the point of going to collage to get a very pricies degree in IT and have little or no prospect of getting suitable imployment. shurle there is a position for want of a better word an IT fiter that can fit or at least prewire an alarm while im at it.
james.wilson Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 qualification wise then you dont technicaly need anything which is partly why there are people in our industry that shouldnt be. but i did the c&g 1851 which is now 1852 and id say a good grounding. You will need manufacturer training on your chosen equipment. Or work for an approved company and they will train you. Although i don't think i would get any of our engineers to do it in the future, working for an approved company is the best training.
