gti Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Hello Ive installing an Veritas Excel and im running it in EOL mode using the two resistor technique. All zones are fine except for one zone where im running two (no other free zones available) magnet switches. I was instructed that they should be installed as per the picture attached, the only problem is when both doors are open the panel must see a resistance of 53kohm and as a result goes into tamper. Could you please tell me what is the correct way to run two magnet switches whilst using eol please? Im guessing that the right way would be to bypass both magnet switches with one resistor instead of two 22k as per the attached picture? Many thanks Trev
Rulland Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Yep you would need one resistor across both contacts-IE either contact opening would introduce the 22k 'active' state+the 10k EOL resistor-the diagram attached doesn't show that though!. But the install manual does say 'one device per zone' for high security operation using resistors-and is good practice!. Any other contributions members?regs etc.

gti Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Thanks for the replys, guys. Ive ran one cable from each mag back to the panel so im guessing this is how yours would look AlarmGuard This was how i thought it was ment to be done, as i was thinking if they bypassed one of the mags wrong there would be only 11k of shut resistance? Is this a good idea or am i just beeing dumb? Thanks again for your help Trev
A-G Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Illustration 1 doesn't work. Illustration 2 does, but you can have just one 22k resistor rather than two at 11k. The outcome would be the same. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.
