Whats in the top 40 these days is what makes money for record companies, which is nothing new - its what they are, and always have been in business for - even during the war !

My kids watch kerrang, and mostly I like the stuff......but look at the obviously commercial rubbish thats on some of the other sky music channels !

I've heard all the pessimism before. In the 50's it was teddy boys that would destroy the youths ..... in the 60's mods and rockers, hippies in the 70's, punks in the 80's, rappers in the 90's.

The real problem is the acceptance of the lowering of standards in society.

Yeah ! I was just thinking something on the same lines, in the days of that buddy holly clip, there were teds. even pre teds the late 40s was a very violent time, there were quite a lot of handguns about, leftovers from ww2. but kids less likely to use them than now. I wonder if not letting kids have toy guns anymore has made things worse...dunno about you, but where I lved all kids had toy guns - and played killing germans , or cowboys and indians etc. surprising really, when you consider a lot of our fathers and grandfathers had done the real thing - youd expect that they would have been against letting their kids glorify it.

Actually although I dont like it, that kersal thing is quite well done, and those kids will hopefully grow out of it, like the teds, and the mods, and the skinheads did, and find a useful channel for their talents.

mods nd rockers punch ups were always exagerated in the papers I reckon,

Bit before my time, and too far south. but no one stabbed, shot or kicked to death.

Theres a famous picture of a mod being chased by about a hundred rockers, think it was in the news of the world front page..

problem is, he dont look scared - he,s smiling. I heard it was staged, press men bunged him ! It was good press ans sold papers.

and in the films the mods always won.......not how I rememberd it, but it was 68 befre I got a bike ! still used to chase what mods were left on their hairdryers though.
