kevincr Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi, just moved into a new house which has a Honeywell Galaxy 2-12 which was fitted 2 years ago. The previous owner left me 4 digit user code and engineer code. The unit appears fully operational showing the time and date on the keypad. On entering user code display shows "additional code required" if I go ahead and type in the engineer code I get the same message. Am I entering the codes incorrectly? in the wrong order perhaps? I think both codes are valid because if you enter a random code you get the "invalid code" message. The Alarm was installed by ADT but I don't want to call them in as I don't want to pay for a yearly contract. I have installed simpler systems myself in previous houses so I am keen to maintain this one myself if possible. Thanks in advance
chalky Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 The alarm sounds like it has been set up for engineer reset and may need reseting. Sounds like the panel has been set to engineer access off sub menu 48 this needs turning on by the master code first. Or you may not have the master code for the system and just have a lower user code, Where abouts are you. TVX systems what a good idea by the time the picture had downloaded the intruder would have been long gone.SFE.Solutions security systems
kevincr Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Hi, Yes I have tried the user number followed by A to try and set the system but I get the "additional code required" message. I have also tried the user number folowed by ENT button but get same message. I am in Aberdeen, a bit to far north for most on this forum no doubt! Thanks
chalky Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Sounds like you dont have the master code and have just been given a lower access user code from the old owner. If this is the case and you cant get the master code you will have to crash the panel and reprogram. goncall Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 the code you have is the engineer code.you need a user code, you may have installed simpler systems but a g2 isnt a simple system.
