piesporter Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I have a Veritas RB Panel with two Ventcroft Classic bellboxes, which CANNOT be switched SAB/SCB. I need to use them as SCB to reduce the current drawn from the panel. Veritas R8 Instructions say that Terminal "B" can be programmed as switched negative removed rather than switched negative applied to allow SCB operation, and then "B" used to provide permanant negative supply. Can anyone advise what physical wiring changes I need to make after terminal "B" is programmed to switched negative removed?

The only practical way to achieve it is to use the B to feed the negative hold off on the first sounder, when it's removed both sounders will activat using their onboard batteries but I wouldn't recommend it as you will also generate a tamper alarm every time the externals are triggered. Your other option would be to use an additional power supply and just use the panel to switch a relay. Do the ventcroft sounders draw too much current to use two? I have fitted two Texecom sounders on an R8 on several occasions without problems and without resorting to wirng as SCB
james.wilson Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 agreed. unless you have other things drawing lots of current then 2 classics should be fine. Also the ventcroft compact classic has a blue jumper on the board (according to the manual) that allows SAB or SCB operation.
