no one said they were not approved.

The fact is if you use an unapproved company and get ripped off you are in the //.B.W.F.//, if you use an approved company you can go through SSAIB or NSI and get it sorted out.

Not if current quote is from approved company.

Even then Approved Company is no guarantee....discussed before

The price quoted by the existing company is irrelevant to the issue of approval, (which doesn't deal with the price charged), it's just clearly too high.

There are no guarantees in life, but it's still good advice to recommend using an approved company.

The DSC Power 832 panel (PC5010) is no longer manufactured and have been replaced by the PowerSeries v4.2 control panels (PC 1832, etc). These are hybrid panels (can have wired and wireless detectors, dependant on modules)

For a truly wireless DSC panel, the new DSC9045 (with built-in LCD) is the answer, (Replaces the Envoy).

I still prefer a hybrid panel though, as it is more flexible, especially when used with an ESCORT module. (Goto www.dsc.com for more details)

Also ensure that a range test is done with all wireless detectors, before accepting the quote, as wireless range can differ, dependant on the site (there are various factors that can influence this, which cannot be determined without a site visit). This applies to any wireless panel, regardless of make.

The hybrid range can also use repeaters (to extend wireless range) which cannot be used with the 9045. (These have to be wired).

I cannot comment on price as I am not based in the UK.

another thing to think about is the fact DSC spares are hard to get since elvey went tits up, although i belive one of their ex-guys is starting up and can get a hold of the parts.
