dingodeano Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hello i Insulation resistance tested a ring main which incorporated a veritas 8 alarm system. now needless to say the panel is dead. what damage may have been caused and how do i go about putting it right? thx in advance :0)
Gopher Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 You've probably blown at least the fuse in the spur (if there was one fitted), the fuses in the main unit, probably also killed the transformer maybe, and also possible destroyed the battery / battery charge circuit. If your lucky replacing the fuses and also perhaps the battery will fire up the system. If not you've more than likely cooked the system totally. dingodeano Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 ok process of elimination then. last report was a light flashing on the panel (probably indicating power faliure) the fuse on spur is still intact so i guess the panel took the 500v . i will get some fuses ordered and take it from there. p.s. where is the best( cheapest) place to obtain parts from? and any idea of prices? thx
Adi Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 For the cost of the panel, i would replace it. 30 or 40 quid will do it. Insulation tests wont blow 3 amp fuses, there is not enough juice. Probably wont blow others. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
luggsey Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 It may be damaged or 'locked up'. A hard reset may bring it back...you will have to get a local alarm installer to advise how to sort that out. I tend to use my megger on 240v for this, I once meggered a circuit with a vending machine on it and the suger dispenser opened up and dumped the entire contents! Wasn't me guv!
