leiadylan Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Hi there, i am new to this forum. I have a concept alarm which works fine when i am out of the house but due to my parents house being burgled while the slept the other night i now want to put it on at night too. Only problem is i have an open plan living room so the stairs are in the livingroom to the upper floor. The key pad is in the hall which is shut off from the living room by a door. So last night my husband set the alarm as if he were leaving the house but ran upstairs instead. the last time the alarm engineer was out he told me we could do this & upstairs it was all the windows that were activated so we could still walk about upstairs. anyway this was fine but twice he had to go downstairs in the night (we have babies, one needed a dummy, the other a bottle!) and both times he intended on running down the stairs & expected to have 5 or 10 seconds to reset the alarm but both times it went off as he was only half way down the stairs. is there any way to prevent this & also how do you know which zone is which? ie which room it represents? the alams was in place when we bought the house a few years ago. many thanks!
Guest RJBsec Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Need an engineer in to configure the system to suit your needs and probably service due as well.
FASTCAR Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The zones on the concept are not programmable , so how they react to a trigger is fixed. You can either OMIT the lounge detector (assuming it is zone 2)leaving just the doors on , or you need to trigger zone 1 ( front door circuit) before you come downstairs, this will start the entry timer. This used to be done with either a stair pressure mat , or a discreet button . To find out which zone is what , do a walk test or just set the alarm and walk around the property noting which zone is triggered.
Rulland Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The engineer that told you to do what your attempting to do is wrong. basically the alarm is doing what it should do-pick up movement without seeing a normal entry in progress. A 'walk test' will show you what zones are what. Richard.
