gsangwell Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I have an Accenta G3 system fiited to my home and wish to add a Simple Set Reader. Am I correct in asuming that I can simply wire this in using the same connections in the master box as the current keypad is connected to, so that both the keypad by the frontdoor and SSR by the backdoor are connected to the same terminals. I will also be replacing a PIR in the kitchen with a "Pet Friendly" PIR. Disabling the alarm is not a problem, I have engineer code and have already successfully changed the backup battery.

Forget to add that the SSR will be installed on the other side of an internal wall from the main system box. Do I wire the new SSR in series with the exisitng keypad or direct to the same connectors. Also, will my system retain its settings when I power it of to connect the new reader and PIR. Thanks.

gsangwell Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 There is now one slight problem, Zone 1 (Hallway PIR) is set to allow you time to enter code on entry/exit using original keypad. The new SSR is located in Zone 3 and this alarms immediately it senses you enter the back door, before you can offer up the fob. I understand that I can add Zone 3 to be a timed zone but need to do this via the Engineer function. I thought that I had the Engineer code when I changed the battery, but must have used the user code instead. It looks as though the installers have changed the default Engineer code as it does not work. Are the installers obliged to give me the code the have set it to or change it back to the default ? After all it is my system. Failing that if I do an NVR reset will I lose my 2 current program settings (Full set and omit upstairs) Any help appreciated, or contact me if you are near Witney Oxfordshire and could take a look.

No, the engineer code is not for public knowledge, they will come back and default the code but expect to pay for the call - probably best to call them back to make the necessary programme and engineer code change. Expect them to wash their hands of any responsibility for the system if you have engineer access.
gsangwell Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Expect them to wash their hands of any responsibility for the system if you have engineer access. It is no longer under a maintenance contract, so surely they should have left the code as per default. This now looks like a pricey callout for a simple program amendment.

No, did you ask them to default the system when they last maintained it? It may be 'your' alarm but the design and programming of the system is 'theirs'.
