ruby43 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Hi, My system is a scantronic 9800, and i have unfortunatley cut through one of the wires. How can I temporarily shut down the system whilst the repair can take place. Also, will the system need to be reset ? Does it have to be a qualified engineer to reset the system, or can this be done by an amateur like myself with the guidance of a knowledgable member of this community ? Any positive comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks.....Ruby
Rulland Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Hi, depends on whats on the cable you've cut!-if it's anything that has power to it ie-external sounder,PIR's,etc-you will almost certainly blown a fuse in the control panel, If its just a contact for a door etc fuses should be OK. Either way the cable should be 'dead' at this point-you can try repairing it and take it from there!. But my recommendation is get an engineer in as obviously there are dangerous voltages etc present in the control panel-he could sort the problem a lot quicker and safely!. Richard.

Thanks for the reply Richard.... I haved nicked a wire which has triggerd a "tamper " fault...I managed to push the wire back together and it worked ok for a while, but during decorating the wire has been dislodged and obviously the alarm went off..... The wire hasn't been repaired as yet, but the system seems to be stable, but I can't clear the "t3" fault from the key pad.... Will I be able to clear this when the cable is repaired ? Thanks.....Ruby
Gopher Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 If it's a tamper fault then it's repairable but doing in neatly is the hard part. Since you've not nicked any of the power wires then you should be okay but if memory serves me correctly the scantronic line all have resetable fuses on board that auto reset on removal of the fault. Once you've repaired it, you should be able to clear it, of course that all depends on how "tamper reset" was programmed on the panel, as it's a everyone / engineer only setting in the engineering menu. Intruder / CCTV / Access Control Technical Support Personal Subscriber to the "K.I.S.S" principle, that's Keep It Simple Stupid, are you?
Rulland Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Hi, if you can repair the cable, try the resetting using your code, dependent on how the system has been programmed will define how a tamper on zone 3 can be reset-engineer or user. If you have managed to use the system ie set/unset Ok whilst the cable is together then it sounds like its user reset. Richard.

Richard. Hi, I will get the cable repaired today and see how it goes from there..... Another question.. Assuming I can get the sytem back to normal, I want to re-locate the siren.....At the moment it's just outside a bedroom and when it goes off......IT GOES OFF Is this a job for the amateur ? also, is it possible to disarm the system whilst the repairs/re-location are carried out ? Thanks....Ruby
Rulland Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Now that is really a job for a pro-lots of connections etc-and it needs to be disconnected in the panel to be moved-sorry!. Richard.

Hi, Any info on how to shut down the system without the bells and whistles going mad ? Thx...Ruby
