housty Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Hi all Does anyone know if there is a NVM chip you can remove when the panel has enginneers code is locked in for a DSC PC 1565 Classic i looked in the manual and its not too informative??? housty Houston Security Systems Ltd Intruder alarms CCTV Door entry Fire protection Networking SSAIB Approved
Deltaseven Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Don't think the NVM is removeable on that one. Why don't you just hardwire default the panel? - Careful though - If I remember correctly British Gas (I think...) had their own version of this panel - and if you default it, it defaults to their own engineer's code, not the DSC one.
j.paul Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 You can't remove the NVM chip, and a hardwire default will not work if the eng code is locked (option [990] Installer Lockout Enable) Is it a BG panel? jpaul There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
Biker C Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 jpaul, Can you use the upload/download software to download as is and then change th eng code, this works on gardtec equipment but never tried on DSC ??? Clive

Yes, but you need the eng code and Downloading Access Code to log onto the panel. jpaul There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

Deltaseven Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 What makes you think the engineer's code is locked? Is it because you are fearing the worst or do you have another reason? I assume you are taking the system over for a customer? If so, is the installing company still around? If the worst comes to the worst, you could send the panel to Elvey for defaulting: http://www.elveysecurity.co.uk/
inglishg Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Great! (NOT!) I've been asked to service a system for a profoundly deaf customer...they have a DSC PC1565 panel...installed by BG! The back-up battery is obviously duff (the system is now 10 years old!!), and it won't now respond to their user code. Me thinks the panel will now be locked...or will it? Ultimately, I suppose I need the engineers manual, but after the earlier posts it appears the BG system wont default to DSC's standard engineers code. Is that right? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

BG will default the panel back to DSC standards for a small fee There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

I certainly don't need to change any settings - although it's probably the most simple system you could imagine - just three pir's and that's it! Apparently the system is 10 years old (no wonder the battery is duff!) and hasn't been subject to any maintenance during this time I don't yet understand why the user code didn't appear to be responding, but I understand the woman had taken a look in the end station herself so would have tripped the tamper of course... Anyway. I hope to be getting to check it all out either tomorrow or Thursday. I have a few copies of the user manual, but even in my huge file of engineers manuals, this is one of the missing ones - and I have some really obscure ones!
