Driller Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 The Samsung SVD 4600 are fantastic static domes, we've installed well over a hundred now and had no issues. These are far superior to both Night Devil and Dynamic VLD domes. (both in build quality and image) Price does reflect this though. SVD 4600 work great with IR illuminators too. SIR-4250S are available from a number of suppliers (Norbain, Dynamic etc) trade only though. Excellent news, thank you for that vote of confidence. SVD 4600's it is then. Do you have any experience of the SIR's or could you recommend an IR alternative for indoors? Lastly have you used the SVR range of DVR's? Thanks again.
digitalwitness Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 The SVD 4600s are WDR cameras which will come with a premium and I am not sure you will see the benefit of this technology if your main concern is night time. The SVR Range of DVRs from the models I have seen (usually the higher spec ones) are very good and are made by a top manufacturer and should prove to be reliable judging by other DVRs the factory makes. By the equipment you are looking at it would appear to me that you have a decent budget to get a quality install, one approach maybe to use branded product and over spec but this does not guarantee "right for your use", with this type of budget would you consider a professional installation company? You can requested detailed specifications and they should be able to identify cameras better suited to your application (price wise) and taking the worry from you.

Do you have any experience of the SIR's or could you recommend an IR alternative for indoors? Lastly have you used the SVR range of DVR's? Thanks again. We've installed SIR-4250S in a night club before with good results. However the majority of static domes with built in IR's have poor IR range and suffer from internal reflections. As an alternative we've done a couple of shops using internal Day/Night domes with IR cut filter and used GU10 style down lighter IR bulbs for night time use. There loads of possibilities but it all comes down to budget. The SVR range of DVR's are fantastic, personally prefer them to DM Sprites. Like others have mentioned if its purely night time surveillance that is higher priority, you may be better off getting a professional in who can tailor a solution to your budget. As an example at home I have a mixture of IP and "Analogue" (some SVD-4600) cams, together with multiple Raytec IR/white light illuminators. I use a GJD Dygizone controller + Opal / D-Tech detectors to control the white light side of the raytec. The IR's come on at dusk which gives the cameras a fantastic black/white image. Once a detector is activated the Raytec white light comes on which forces the cameras back into colour mode. The detectors are also linked into the DVR which emails me when activated. The DVR data is also backed up off site. Its overkill but gives you an insight into what
Cubit Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 have you tried system q And here's me thinking Sys Q are trade only.

Alpat Systems Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Thanks for another great post, lots of useful information here. And I must say you have a really inspiring setup there!I'd heard that mosr IR domes don't cut it which is why the SIR's interested me as they seem a (colour?) cut above the rest. I know that the way they are installed is as important. On the day/night question: Daytime and night-time viewing are equally important to me. I have already looked at the GJD stuff especially the Dygizone and the Opals and I may well add these to my shopping list. The IR sounds like it could be pricey (I've seen up to
Driller Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 I believe all the SVR range feature email notification on alarm. SVR-1680 and SVR-960 definitely do.With the equipment your talking about your entering the realms of a good IP set-up. We specialise in installing IP based systems, in fact the majority of our business is now IP based. Not just CCTV but complete building systems lighting, multimedia, environmental monitoring, LAN etc. Most of our IP CCTV systems run on Microsoft server software and has proved to be 100% reliable.
