surrey504 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hi, We are looking for some small discrete cameras that wouldn't be concidered to be convert. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally ok in low light. Thanks
ian.cant Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 My suggestion would be to get a professional in as its not as simple as that. Theres the view required and/or the width of image and the location such as internal external, ceiling/wall mount. I could go on..........
scorpion Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 There small camera that are 2.54 centimeters by 2.54 centimeters. They have screw in lenses. If the camera is to be close to the subject, and you need left, and right peripheral vision then you may need a 3.8mm lens. 2.8mm is super wide angle. If the subject is farther from the camera then you may need a 6mm lens. 6mm lens is the starting point where you do not have distance distortion with wide angle lens. If you are using a 4mm lens, or smaller then the subject cannot be farther than 6 meter. If the subject is farther than 20 feet then you will need a 12mm lens. If the subject is farther then you will have to switch to a regular camera, and use a zoom lens. If this is to view a room then you will need a 2.8 mm lens if you want to go from wall to wall. You can take a regular camera, and hide them inside of other objects. You can hide outdoor bullet cameras inside of birdhouses, and such. You can place mini cameras inside of silk plants. If you need low light cameras then use lighting that is available. Neons signs, rope lighting, or blacklights are examples. Take care
surrey504 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Thanks. For this application they can not be hidden (Guidance from clients legal department) but as small as possible.

james.wilson Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 there are plenty of cameras that are discreet, however as a rule the smaller you go the worse the image becomes and or low light performance. I would probably have a look at some smaller internal dome cameras and cieling moutn them. Ideally if aesthetics is key id be looking to colour code them into the cieling or wall. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

Sony have produced a new IC that will enable some low light System Q Ltd.
