roserat Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Hello, I am really sorry if this is a stupid question. I have tried to find out but I'm stuck. I recently moved into a house with an ADE Optima system, no manual etc. I downloaded the manual from your site (, much appreciated) and have programmed a new code into it. Correct lights etc happened in the right places and it accepted the code but when I put the code in and leave, the exit bleeps don't stop. I have waited five minutes and its still bleeping to itself. Is there a way of resetting the time it takes to leave? Is it something I need an engineer for or am I being daft and theres something easy I haven't done? Please help if you can. Theres lots of trouble in the area and I really need an alarm I can trust. Thank you.
Guest RJBsec Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Describe the beeping, e.g. beep, beep, beep, beepbeep beep, beep beep, beep beep,
antinode Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Sounds like there is a detector on the system that is in fault. Could be anything from a faulty door contact, faulty movement sensor or cable damaged somewhere. Might be worth getting a local company in to give the system a full service as there could possibly be more faults on the system: it's likely that the system will need a new battery fitting in the main control panel if it's never been serviced. Antinode is right, it does sound like a a circuit fault, try setting the system whilst standing next to the panle and make a note of any lights that are on during the beeps.
alterEGO Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I have to admit the sad fact that i used to service hundreds of these per year, we used to get this same fault if a new guy had been out to service. When ADE changed the prog menu to G3 it caused a few issues. If you put a pre G3 version into walk test the way you would on a G3 it instead ends up resetting the e/e time to infinity..............................God i remember those call outs It could be a detector as Scott said, 50/50 on which one it is. If you close all you doors ect and stand still in front of the Keypad/Panel, if there are no zone LEDs illuminated then it isn't a detector causing the fault and will more often then not be the fault i pointed out. As above, your system could do with a service ect. Feel free to give us a call if we can help.
antinode Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Flush contacts on downstairs toilets/WC's is a good one, especially as it has usually been glossed over about 20 times. Used to get loads of calls at my old firm who used to have a large contract with a big house building co. New home owner moves in, can't set alarm due to C5 on keypad: turn up, close toilet door and all is well! Trade Member
