DamienGiles Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Hello, Wiring up the Int Sounder and before I "play" I'm wondering if someone could clarify? The alarm is all setup, PIRs etc are working and we've completed a "test" period for the false alarms, After a month of no false alarms, we think it's fault free. I'm hooking up the internal sounder but the install guide for the sounder is vague. It's got 5 connections (ignoring the 2 for the internal battery). H+ & H- are 0v and 12V Cntrl Panel which are fine. R- - 0v activates sounder M- 0v activates buzzer RTN - Tamper Return These three I'm not 100% sure of. I know the RTN goes into the SAB TMP on the Panel. I think the R- goes into the Bell Hold on the panel. But I'm not sure where the M- goes on the panel? Is that the SPKR on the Panel? Thanks

Thanks R- is a switched negative input, if you connect it to Bell Hold it will sound continuously. It should be connected to the switched - bell output on the panel, I can't remember how this is labelled with Gardtec stuff but may be S- or similar. The M terminal is a switched negative which will give a lower volume output for entry exit tones, not sure if your panel has an output which supports that.
antinode Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I presume you already have an external bell connected to the panel? If so, you can't connect the tamper return straight into the SAB tamp terminal on the panel. R- goes to Bell - You can't connect the M terminal as the speaker output on your panel is designed for a proper loudspeaker, not a voltage driven sounder like your Elmdene. Trade Member
