crop Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Hi, First time here, I am a retired sparky although i have installed alarms in the past. The problem is i went around to my neices mother in laws to reset her alarm as when she was decorating she thinks steam got into the remote keypad, I reset it with no problems and also fitted a new battery while i was at it. Since then her son fitted new carpets and cut through the cable to the upstairs pir, he repaired the wires which i have checked and they are ok but the alarm sounds continuously. I have tried a reset but although there is power to the remote keypad (it beeps, pad lights up but no power or day led. I have linked out all the tampers, removed the pir's checked for broken cables etc but as soon as you connect the main fuse it goes off with no way to shut down from keypad, all other fuses are ok. any ideas...thanks p.s could it be the pcb ?

crop Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 have you tested the voltage on the panel Yes voltage is ok.If i remember its about 14v
hpotter Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 When you power up, have you tried using factory default code? Might of lost customers code.
crop Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 When you power up, have you tried using factory default code? Might of lost customers code. The remote keypad although the buttons are illuminated and it beeps (waiting for the code i assume), has no power led or day led and the keypad does nothing (buttons do not work) although it worked prior to the incident.
crop Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 I assume that means "bin it" in a picturesque way.
lawandorder Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I assume that means "bin it" in a picturesque way. Have you tried powering the system down completely? I would disconnect the battery then power mains down then up again without the battery, try ti, see what happens. Also check for any blown fuses on the PCB and check that the keypad cable is intact.
crop Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 System powered down, all fuses checked, cable to keypad checked for continuity also voltage reaching keypad.
Guest old-hand Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 He might have meant them to stop DIY decorating...................................All that damage lol
