Guest Mark Harrison Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I apologise if the is has already been addressed. Last evening we suffered a powercut at home, immediately the outside bell box siren cut in. I went to switch the alarm off at the key pad but their was no power at all to the pad. We had to wait until the siren stopped itself (approx 25 mins) but then no power was at the key pad. Power only came back once the Mains supply was fixed. Is therefore the Battery back up which is dead, the system is 6 years old (we have just moved into the house). As well there was no strobe light operating on the bell box when the alarm was going off, any ideas ?? Should i get a 12v (2.6 - 6ah) Rechargeable battery for staters ?? As we are new to the house is it advisable to get the alarm serviced, if so can anyone recommend someone in the Bolton area of Lancashire. Sorry if i have gone over old ground Mark..
Guest dale Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 You will need a new battery as its dead. They only have a working life of 4 years, then your local engineer should replace it. I would certainly suggest getting a local company to come and service the system, there should be someone on the forum who covers your area... in fact I think there's 3 or 4 in Bolton who will probably be in touch shortly. D
Guest Mark Harrison Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Thanks Dale for the reply. What kind of cost should we be looking at to get the system serviced and what is done in the service ??? Regards Mark
Guest dale Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Hi Mark, The cost of the service will vary depending on the amount of work that needs doing (especialy if your charging circuit has been cooked), and the company that comes and does it. You may find that your system needs some components replacing, or additions made to your system to help protect your home, but these will be discussed with you by your local installer. For a full service and maintenance contract take over I would expect to pay between £40 - £90 (depending on the company). There is a post somewhere on the notice board of what the engineers do when doing a service.... just do a search.. D
Guest Mark Harrison Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Just a quick note to say thank you to the forum members who helped us with the power cut issue. Alarm now serviced and everything seemed to be ok, until last night we set the alarm and zoned an area off. The zoned area flashes (zone 5) and also LED 6 on the control panel flashes, when the alarm is set and armed both lights go off. Any idea as to what zone 6 is flashing for ??? Thanks again Mark
FASTCAR Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 The flashing zones are being omitted , maybe you're installer programmed it for you(part set). You should have a zone plan to tell you which area's are what , and a user guide.
