Guest lalulu Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Dear experts, I'm not an installer just a satisfied user of the 'old' veritas R8 alarm...which up to now I've been happy using. History: The alarm came with the house and was built in 1996. About 9 months ago I had to change the user code, but since then the 'user guide' disappeared and I am now stuck. I need to change the alarm user code once again, and I've tried doing this with a friend's 'Installation Manual' instructions, the 'User Guide' downloaded from texe.com for the Veritas R8... 1. I enter the xxxx user code then press prog, 60, get a BUZZ, enter the NEW code xxxx, press prog, BUZZ, then reset... doesn't work. 2. Somewhere in this site I read I could use the 00 and 01 options instead of 60...so I entered xxxx user code, press 00, 01 this actually LIGHTS UP the zone lights (weahey!) BUT then when i enter the new code xxxx, it BUZZES... no 'ding-dongs' at all, pressing prog and reset...well this obvioulsy finishes the programming ..I tried this... doesn't work either... SO i still have the same old user code, is not changed and it doesn't seem to want to be changed. Anybody knows the 1996 user code change sequence or ANY other ideas on how to make the change of user code sequence work, please? Thanks so much in advance Lucia
FASTCAR Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Hi , old code*,*,*,*. enter 0,0 enter 0,1 new code *.*.*.*. press PROG press RESET done. Oh , and get it serviced regularly!
FASTCAR Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 You could try a different new user code , just in case it is "clashing" with another one.
Guest lalulu Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Dear Fastcar, 1st attempt with my 1st choice of 'new code' it didn't work, so I tried another 'new code'...and that WORKED! Thanks? No... that's too little, so i give you the best: God bless you, TONS of blessings upon you... you are a DARLING! It worked, thanks so much! , Lucia Lucia
