losbarcos Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I have a Nexus 8 alarm that has been installed for about 8 years which has worked without problems. Today, however, the external alarm has been sporadically sounding even though the alarm is unset. Every now and again it will "chirp" or sound for a few seconds before stopping. I have tried powering the system off and removing the battery from the control panel but as soon as I did this, the external alarm went off. I have now restored the power and since then the alarm has sounded a couple of times but has been silent for about an hour now (it's now 10.30pm!). I will call somebody out tomorrow and hope that the alarm will keep quiet overnight but am wondering what could be casuing this? Could it be a fault with the battery in the bellbox or a fault with the tamper switch? The alarm isn't under sort of maintenance contract and I'll probably end up getting a new one installed that does have a contract but is there anything I can do to temporarily silence it? Thanks
Guest RJBsec Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Faulty bell tamper or weather damage circuitry in the bellbox - unlikely to resolve the issue without a replacement bellbox, however there could be other problems. Should've tried to get someone in earlier in the day!
