TEXECOM VR8

Hi,

I've just bought a TEXECOM VR8 control panel and all the bits and bobs, I wanted to attach a second bellbox to the system instead of just having a dummy as the second box, but I wasn't sure how to wire it up - putting in one is simple enough (following the instructions...) - if I want to add another one can I just wire it up in series?

Any help would be much appreciated....

cheers.

Like any system, you need to connect most of the bell in Parallel. The power, sounder trigger and strobe trigger should be wired in parallel. The only thing you need to wire in series is the tamper loop.

Not sure of the maximum current capacity of the PSU on the Veritas 8 though, so will defer to other professionals in here about the current limits. 2 Bells is often too much for a domestic control panel.

Thanks for the reply - I was advised by the shop I got it from that it would support two boxes, but I would be interested if anyone else had tried this or has an opinion on it.

It's best to configure the second bell as "SCB", it will then draw sounder and strobe current from its own on board battery rather than the panel. Will probably sound a bit quieter but at least you shouldn't be blowing any fuses. Must bell box manuals should tell you how to do this and how to wire it up.

If you are using Texecom odyssey bellboxes it shows you in the bell instructions how to wire 2 bells. If not usual way is parrallel 12v, bell trigger and strobe trigger then connect ov of one bell to tr of the other. as the guys have said though set one to SAB or it will draw too much current.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

I have an installation with a Texecom V8 using 2 x Odyssey 1E bellboxes. All works fine.

As mentioned previously the manual tells you how to wire it together, using 1 as SCB and 1 as SAB. However it is slightly quieter.
