Guest markhills Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I am new to the forum but have been kicking around the industry for about 10 years, installing maintaining and repairing intruder alarms. I have recently jumped the company ship and since last November gone self employed. This forum has had me in tears of laughter with the stories of drill bits through gas meters and musical bell boxes, I thought I might pass on an amusing tale that happened to me last week: During a maintenance visit for an elderly gentleman I discovered that his mains supply had an earth leakage fault. Upon trying to explain this to the customer, he proceeded in taking me outside and pointed to a peice of broken guttering. His concern was that this may be the route of the earth leakage that I had been describing. At this stage I wish I'd never opened my mouth!
bellman Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Hi Mark, Welcome to the forums. And yeah, I've had a few strange ones too (including one who thought intruders were getting in through the cracks in the windows and floorboards!!!) I'm sure you'll find lots to entertain you on here. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
black knight Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Welcome Mark how did you keep a straight face? THE BLACK KNIGHT "Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company."
Guest markhills Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I must admit for a little while I was thinking "why is this guy going into great detail about his guttering" well what I actualy thought was "what is this idiot going on about" then it dawned on me... leak!! ah earth leak it was one of those tongue biting situations like the day I turned up to do a maintenance at this lady's house and spent the best part of 15 mins trying to convince her that I was not a saleman trying to flog her double glazing. I wouldn't have minded but I had only spoken to her 2 hours before on the phone to book myself in!!
norman Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Hi Mark and welcome Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
