fertilebert Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Ok , so being the tight git that i am I've managed to squeeze 9 YEARS out of my Bosch cordless drill batteries! And now i'm afraid the end is near as i can just about do one 6mm hole in a brick ! I'm going to buy a new drill anyway , but am curious to know if any one has replaced the cells in a Bosch Battery? , or if any one knows wether they can be revived or not? (suspect too late for these) they are NiMh cells . I'm gonna prize one of my batteries apart tomorrow to have a look , but as they appear to be a sealed unit , suspect it's gonna break . Anyway , has anyone sucessfully replaced their cells? Rob.
ian.cant Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 There was a company who did that called REcell if a recall correctly but im not so sure theyre still around now.
luggsey Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 There are pattern batteries about now, check out Fleabay. I costed packing my own but the cost was pretty high as the cells are not standard types in mine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life is like a box of chocolates, some bugger always gets the nice ones! Chorlton Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 bosch what? I use the bosch 24v range (circ saw, jigsaw, hammer drill and torch) and pay for a battery cell regeneration each year at
A-G Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I replaced the cells in a Makita battery some years back, but it wasn't very successful. At 9 years old, I would say you need a new drill anyway. Treat yourself. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.

Chorlton Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Ey up Chorlton , It's only a blue Bosch 14.4 v that gets used for light stuff , me heavy holes get done with a makita 110, but I am sorry i am a Yorkshire lad and i just can't bear to chuck summat out! LOL Is this the 1st known written proof that us jocks ain't the only tight a***s on the planet. must admit it's a new green bosch drill for me and the saws and torch are all off ebaY think yours is past it's bed time TBH & if I were you I'd google for bargains C.
SUBS Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I replced all the cells in an old 24V Bosch with ones that one of the lads found in a skip, meant for candy floss machines by the look of the packing. looked same but higher rating. Been working couple of years now. Had tried it before without much success - Spose you need to change em all, not just the bad ones. If your really desperate, you could get a cheapo DIY drill, nick the cells and sling the rest.
ian.cant Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Battery refills Seems almost as cheap to buy new batteries. Didnt find any prices here, call for a quote...........? You can buy alternative versions of your battery on ebay.

Got old 12v Bosch, which I removed all the old cells from the battery, then put 2mt lead on it and connect it to one of the old alarm batteries I collect along the way Ok with 1.2's but its a bit of a f*$Ker to get a 7 amper in your pocket There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
